This guide will walk you through setting up call forwarding for a specific extension using the Follow Me feature in the Vonage Admin Portal.

Steps to Configure Call ForwardingStep 1: Access the Admin Portal
Step 2: Navigate to Extensions
  • Click Phone System (left menu)
  • Click Extensions
  • Click on the extension you want to configure (e.g., Extension 405)
Step 3: Enable Call Forwarding
  • Find the Forward Calls section
  • Toggle Forward Calls to ON (turns purple)
Step 4: Select Follow Me
  • Select the Follow Me option
Step 5: Configure First Ring
  • Under “When my phone rings…”
  • Click “Select an extension” dropdown
  • Select This Extension (desk phone rings first)
  • Set ring duration: 2 Rings - 10 Sec (recommended)
Step 6: Add External Number
  • Click “Add Another Rule”
  • Click “Add New Number”
  • Enter the external phone number (10-digit format)
  • Set ring duration: 4 Rings - 20 Sec
Step 7: Set Voicemail
  • Under “If no answer, send to voicemail of”
  • Select “This Extension’s Voicemail”
Step 8: Set Caller ID
  • Under “Use Caller ID”
  • Select “Originating Caller ID”
Step 9: Save
  • Click Save
ResultCalls will now:
  • Ring desk phone (10 seconds)
  • Ring external number (20 seconds)
  • Go to voicemail if no answer
Important Note
⚠️ This forwards calls 24/7. For after-hours only forwarding, you’ll need to manually toggle it on/off daily or use an Advanced Virtual Receptionist.
